Core Engineering Graduate Training
Majority of the project stakeholder companies fail to provide a structured and result-oriented training & development program to their young employees picked up from the campus as Graduate Engineer Trainees / Management Trainees despite their best intentions. This is primarily due to lack of time (hectic work schedules & deadlines) and/or lack of mentoring skills in seniors / experienced staff.
Another reason for the disinterest in the training is the present trend of job hopping by the young professionals, which make the companies reluctant to invest in training the workforce and upgrade the skill set. Instead, poaching on experienced and skilled personnel from their competitors becomes a preferred choice making the industry suffer in the process.
With an aim to fix the link and bridge this gap, Dynergic International has come up with Non Profit Initiative program for Graduate Engineer.
Transforming Core Engineering Graduate into Skilled & Employable Engineer
Introduction Existing Scenario of Engineering Education in India
Human resources, in terms of quality and quantity, are India’s biggest assets. A favorable demographic structure (with about 50 percent of the population below 25 years of age) adds to this advantage. However, to capitalize fully on this opportunity and not face the possibility of a skills-shortage, it is essential to gear up to Improve Employability
As mentioned above India possesses huge potential of the youth power which is now being engaged in higher education including engineering. However, the resulting quality of the engineering graduates does not fully satisfy the requirements of the global market. Self financing private engineering colleges are churning out about 87% of the engineering graduates in the country. The poor quality of the graduation is due to the following reasons:
- Shortage of faculty.
- Inadequate physical infrastructure.
- Rigid and outdated curriculum.
- Poor learner quality
- Absence of R & D activities.
- Poor quality of training
- Ineffective linkage with industry.
There is a complete mismatch between the knowledge gained by the students in engineering colleges and current practice in the field. Industry often finds engineering graduate’s weak in professional practice thus necessitating long duration on the job training for making them professionally useful. Emphasis has shifted from learning and acquiring skills to passing the examination. This has resulted in an overemphasis on theory at the cost of practice. A study has revealed that 75% of the engineering graduates are unemployable. This is because of the poor performance of most of the self financed private engineering colleges.
Experts say that this may cause serious instability in the economic and social conditions in the country, along with wide scale dissatisfaction and disillusionment
As many as 97% of graduating engineers want job either in software engineering or core engineering but only 3% in Software & 7 % in core engineering can handle Task.
The engineer employability debate needed to be looked at from a macro perspective. The real problem is whether what is being taught is correlating to current industry requirements
“No student is ready to immediately join industry straight off campus, said People need to go through training programmes”
One of the Major problems facing the fresh graduates is their insufficient understanding of basic concepts .the lack of in depth understanding of technical information and insufficient knowledge across domains are major Skill gaps in the area.
Recent Studies and Research Work to address the Employability
Recent studies and research work has made an attempt to address the employability dearth among the engineering students that indicate that:
- The difference between the skills needed on the job and those possessed by applicants, sometimes called the skills-gap, is of real concern to human resource managers and business owners looking to hire competent engineers.
- There is significant difference between expected and actual levels of employability skills perceived among engineering students.
- There is significant difference between expected and actual levels of Technical Knowhow and actual levels of Problem Solving/Decision making Skills.
- Emphasis has shifted from learning and acquiring skills to passing the examination. This has resulted in an overemphasis on theory at the cost of practice.
- India possesses huge potential of the youth power which is now being engaged in higher education including engineering. However, the resulting quality of the engineering graduates does not fully satisfy the requirements of the global market.
Employability
“It is clear that the booming problem in front of engineering graduate is not unemployment but employability.” in fact employability is more Challenging then unemployment .The term employability “signals a connection to the world of work that is dynamic and long-term in nature."
Employability is far bigger a challenge than unemployment. Industry leaders feel that the “skills” and “quality” of the Engineering Graduate need a lot of improvement. as this may cause serious instability in the economic and social conditions in the country, along with wide scale dissatisfaction and disillusionment.
Dynergic International an Integrated PMC has taken initiative to mitigate the issues of employability that are threatening the very future and stability of our country. With an aim to fix the link and bridge this gap, Dynergic International has come up with Non Profit Initiative program for Core Engineering Graduate.
Dynergic International has developed First Training module of its kind in country based on Industry based skill set ,Domain Knowledge, Technical Know how and current practice in Energy & Infrastructure Industry for Core Engineering Graduates to bridge the gap between Existing Curriculum and Industry Requirement.
These skills are prerequisites for any engineering student and the combination of these skills along with an engineering degree will ensure that students meet the high expectations of the employers. Skills developed by enhancing attributes could make a person the best choice for a certain post.
Industry clearly look forward to engineers who are focused and are passionate about the profession they aspire to enter; therefore, we making an effort to hone their attributes that will improve their job prospects.
Empowering Engineers for Employability
Dynergic International provides 40 Hours Industry Specific and Interdisciplinary relationships training, Practical Knowledge, Effective technical skill set and practice to young engineers to make them ready for the industry.
